The Academy
Closes October 19
This record is called The Academy. Sixteen songs about building something real where you stand — small places, done bottom-up, the long game played one swing at a time. A cottage court. An ADU on Maple Street. Ten thousand reps in a workshop at dawn, a father and a son and a hammer and a saw. It's a record about learning a trade and staying to finish it.
Each song was recorded two ways — same words, two different takes. Two takes, one record: sit with both and tell us which one should carry the song.
That's the ask. Play A, play B, all the way through if you can, and tell us which one holds. Not the slicker one. The one that sounds like it means it.
The takes aren't labeled A-for-first, and they come up in a different order for everyone. That's deliberate — we don't want our thumb on the scale, and we don't want yours moved by a letter or a filename.
All sixteen are open now. When they close, the record is finished: the takes chosen here are the ones that ship.
There's no order to it. Start anywhere.
