Too Many of You

Voting closed — the final cuts are with the label.

This record is called Too Many of You. Six songs about a widow of September 11th — one woman's testimony, told from the outside by people who watched her give it, and through her, every woman who got the same morning. The songs will tell you her name.

Each song was recorded six different ways. Same words each time; different takes. We didn't narrow them down to a shortlist, because deciding which take carries a song like this isn't back-room work. It takes a person, listening.

That's the ask. Sit with each take — all the way through, if you can — and tell us which one holds the weight. Not the flashiest one. The truest one.

The takes aren't labeled, and they come up in a different order for everyone. That's deliberate. We don't want our thumb on the scale, and we don't want yours moved by a filename.

All six rounds are open now. When they close, the record is finished: the takes chosen here are the ones that ship.

There's no order to it. Start anywhere.
